Current Development of Internet
Although Google cannot made much development in the web since the late 1990’s, it serves as a major turning point in its popular acceptance.Within a short time, "Google" became a verb synonym to searching the web.
During the 90’s major investments had been made in the field of technology, and investors and companies saw the web as the new portal for their investments. So many of those investments went badly that 2000 is known as the year the dot-com bubble burst, with the majority of the high investment dot-coms going down during 2001 and 2002. The irony of the dot-com bubble burst is that the Internet would, in the years after the burst, prove itself immensely profitable and a major focus of investments once again. It matured to become such a part of people’s lives that it had begun to threaten the existence of companies that refused to create a strong presence online.
The Internet
The Internet is a large “network of networks.” It is a collection of tens of thousands of computers connected in a tangled web, talking to one another through a common communications protocol. The www stands for World Wide Web is like a thread that connects to all information its like a planet full of information to us.
It is impossible to deny the influence of the Internet. In 1990's a quick change in the technology have taken place few understood this change and few didn't those who understood this change in technology can't imagine living without it. The World Wide Web is a powerful thread that connects the entire world, one that allows us to share information like never before. The benefits of this so much information are too many to list, and while some problems are also becoming apparent, the web's place in our daily life can't be deniable. We can now access the Information through Internet from our home computers, office, laptops and our phones. But many people still aren’t entirely sure what the Internet is and how it really works.

Is my blog indexed, and if not, how to get it indexed quickly
Many new bloggers are impatient. They just start a blog and then immediately expect to find their blog in search engine result pages. It takes time for a site to be indexed. To find out if your blog have been indexed by a search engine, type
site:blog URL
into the searchbox and press the enter key. To make it clearer, to see if this blog has been indexed, type
site:http://bloggerfordummies.blogspot.com
into the searchbox
If you find you blog cannot be found, it means it has not been indexed yet. If you see the blog in the search engine result page, then it has been indexed.
However, some may type, for example, the title of their blog into the search box and then expect to see their blog. Even if your blog is indexed, it may appear so deep in the search engine result pages, it will be very hard for you to find that link.
Other ways to get links are to submit your blog to directories. The most important and hardest to get listed is DMOZ (Open Directory Project) now also callled Google Directory because DMOZ has been bought over by the giant Google. BTW Blogger Tips and Tricks got listed in DMOZ even without submitting the blog to DMOZ. Read about it by clicking the link. I had actually tried to submit a long time ago. I couldn't decide on what categories to submit it in. For submission to DMOZ, choosing the right category is very important. It takes a very long time to get listed in DMOZ, and your blog may not even be listed after a long time if it is found not suitable. Google Directory is based on DMOZ. This means that if your site is listed in DMOZ, you immediately get 2 inbound links from 2 high PageRank and authority sites. Plus other search engines uses DMOZ as a reference, and if your blog is listed there, it will definately be searchable in other search engines.
Other directories will be easier to get listed. You can find probably 10's or even 100's of them. Try them. They are easy to get listed. I have thought of preparing a list of blog directories, but figure you can find them yourself easily. Type "blog directory" into the search box above, tick [ ]Web and search. It is advisable to prepare a "directory submission" file with all the information normally required by the directories such as URL, description, tags (keywords), etc. in a Notepad file and save it in your computer where you can quickly find it when you need it. Then, you will not need to retype the same thing again and again.
Recently got a complaint in the comment. He said he tried but still cannot find his blog in the search results. Perhaps if you like to see some of your posts at the top of the SERP (Search engine result page), make a post or posts about some obscure topic which few people write about. Then your chances of being in the top 10 is very high. But note that if it is an obscure topic, it probably will be searched for by very few people.

How to speed up indexing by search engines
The most effective way to get you site indexed by search engine is to get an inbound link from a site which have already been indexed and which is crawled regularly. If you have a friend who have such a blog, perhaps you can ask a favor for a link to your blog to be placed in his, even if only temporarily until your blog has been indexed. Others think that adding a Google sitemap may help. To add a Google sitemap to your blog, see Adding a Google sitemap to your blogOther ways to get links are to submit your blog to directories. How do I track visitors to my blog
Many bloggers are interested in knowing how often their blog was viewed. What you need is a hits counter. You can get a free hit counter here at StatCounter.com. After you sign up for an account, you will be taken through a series of steps to generate codes to paste into your template. You will have to provide a title and give the url of your blog, choose a category and select from a series of options. You may just accept the default if you want a counter similar to what you see at the bottom of this page (you may also select the invisible option). There will be just one option where no default is given and that is whether your website uses frames. Select NO. There is a further option of whether you want the script generated for your counter to be XHTML compliant or not. For the New Blogger, I have earlier found that leaving this unticked can give a working counter. But if you are using a New Blogger template, it is probably betting to tick that option. When the codes are generated, highlight it and copy the codes.
Sign into Dashboard, select the relevant blog, click the TEMPLATE tab to get to the template editor to edit the template. Paste the codes after the tag and before the tag. If you chose an invisible counter, you can follow the instruction in the post exactly, and it doesn't matter whether you are using the old classic template or the New Blogger template. If you chose a visible counter, the counter will appear at the bottom of the page. If you want the visible counter to appear elsewhere and you are using the old classic Blogger template, you will have to refer to this post Blogger template tutorial (old classic template): Adding stuff via the template for a guide as to where to paste the script.
If you chose an invisible counter, the number of steps is very much less. Note that Statcounter have changed a bit since this post was written and I think I need to do an update/redit or a new post,

How to change URL of your blog
Steps to change a blog's URL (web address) in Blogger:
1. log into Dashboard
2. click on the relevant blog
3. click SETTINGS tab
4. click PUBLISHING
5. edit url (see screenshot above. Place where you type the new URL is indicated by cursor (arrow) and also "Type new URL here" in red
Remember to save settings.
Your success will depend on whether the URL has already been taken up or not.
NOTE: Remember, if you changed the URL of your blog, any existing incoming links will become dead link. If your blog is relatively new, that may not be a problem, but if your blog has been on the Web for a long time, your blog will already have been indexed by search engines, and you will have to wait to be indexed by the search engines all over again, and for some time, people searching for content in your blog will get links that lead nowhere. You will lose your PageRank and will have to wait a long time to get a meaningful PageRank for blog with the new URL. People may have linked to your blog or posts and all these will become dead links. Further, there have been lots of reports of bloggers who deleted their blog or changed its URL. Sploggers grab the now available URL and use them for dubious uses the worst of which is pornography. This will be extremely embarrassing for you if your family, relatives, friends, colleagues, etc., have your old URL.
So if yours is an old blog, think very carefully before you change the URL. If you insist on doing it, I would suggest immediately try to re-register your old URL and use it to redirect the old blog to the new blog URL. See Redirect New Blogger blog to another site

How to make a Heart on Facebook and other special characters ♥ ♫ ★
There are so many posts on Facebook every day. Your friends write about their activities and emotions. It happens quite often that you think how boring this is and who might care about it. But sometimes there are funny and special characters within the mass of posts. Signs like ♥, ☼, ☎ make the typeface less monotonous. But how can you add these characters, emoticons and symbols to your status updates, comments and chats? Check it out:
Facebook Heart Symbols
Characters by key sequences (ALT-Symbols)
To produce ALT symbols on windows, press and hold the ALT key and, while holding it, enter a special number combination. You have to use the numbers on the right side of the keyboard for entering the ALT symbols. If you don’t have a numeric keypad (laptops often don’t have one), you need to hold both the ALT and Fn key and then press the (coloured) numbers that you can find next to the letters on your keyboard. Don’t use the numbers on top of your keyboard as they don’t work to create symbols.
